FATF releases up-to-date guidelines on counter terrorist financing

The new guidelines were produced in order to encourage action both at states level and within compliance professionals.

35 jurisdictions joined the effort and produced input leading to the final guidelines.

As key points of the guidelines we can notice, the need to effectively monitor charities and non-profit organisations transactional patterns, the importance to hold and maintain relevant frameworks to legitimate and harmonise controls and the identification of current threats and vulnerabilities of existing controls.

The guidelines highlight the importance of the risk assessments and furthermore the need to maintain such assessment up to date in order to identify and measure risk and to be able to produce effective and tailormade-made mitigations measures.
