Pakistan facing blacklisting by the Asia Pacific Group – FATF

Following India’s pressure, the Asia Pacific Group has included Pakistan on the blacklist of countries in regards to the fights against terrorism.

This follows the country evaluation report which showed shortcomings on 32 out of the 40 compliance parameters of examination.

In addition, in 10 out of the 11 effectiveness examination points, Pakistan scored low, showing an important gap with the international standards.

Countries like US, the UK, Germany and France have called for immediate actions to address shortcomings in the Pakistan counter terror framework.

In October 2019 Pakistan must show significant progress in order to avoid FATF blacklisting.
